Striking Causes of PST Corruption

June 22, 2010 | In: software

MS Outlook application which is used in a wide scale uses PST file to store all the information’s stored in it. The PST file is separated from the MS Outlook application to enhance the performance of MS Outlook. But this PST file is very prone to corruption which may interrupt your general business operations. In fact sometimes critical data related to the mails, journals, notes, tasks, appointments etc. becomes inaccessible and puts you in a big trouble. In this situation if the backup of the PST file is not available than accessing those data is very hard.

There are various striking factors due to which corruption of PST file occurs. Some of them are as follows –

  • Inappropriate termination of MS Outlook application either due to power interruption or due to some other reasons.
  • Internal hardware and software issues which interrupt the working of PST file.
  • PST file exceeding 2GB size limitation in Outlook 2002 and its prior versions.
  • Virus invasion and arbitrary code execution which either thefts or corrupts PST file.
  • Some logical or human errors or accidentally PST file deletion which makes the data stored in the Outlook inaccessible.

If any of the above mentioned issues occurs with your PST file then severe data loss situations can happen. To resolve the issue use Scanpst.exe inbuilt utility which is efficient enough to resolve the PST related issue. If the problem further persists, then use any third party tool to resolve the problem instantly.
